Born 1965 in Liverpool, England. Paul Lindale's computational work is rooted in the tradition of fine art landscape painting. Through fictive environments that form meditative spaces, Lindale explores notions of being, time, place, and memory. His work evokes both a sense of loss and of mnemonic correspondences. Since 2012 his work has primarily focused on man’s impact on the environment during the Anthropocene (1945 to the present).
Lindale has exhibited throughout Massachusetts and in Texas in the US and in Liverpool and London in the UK. He holds a B.F.A. in Fine Art from Liverpool College of Art and an M.F.A. in Media and Performing Arts from Massachusetts College of Art & Design. He taught at Massachusetts College of Art & Design and Westfield State University 1993-99 before joining the Art Department at Greenfield Community College in 1999. He served as GCC Art Department Chair from 2010-22.

Lindale's artistic career has always been comprised of two interrelated forms of creativity: ART and DESIGN. In both, the elements of play, exploration, and trial and error form a critical part of the process by which ideas and images evolve: play frees the mind from formal constraints by allowing chance to inform decision making.
Since 1992, the computer has been his primary medium of choice, both as a tool and as a medium unto itself. All of the works on this site are computer generated through code written in the Processing language.
Lindale's work explores how we have changed and are changing the environment and that environment is now impacting us – from pollution to climate change. This work has coincided with the global realization that humanity has entered a new geological age, commonly referred to as the Anthropocene- The Age of Man. While scientists are still debating when this age began, many concur that it coincides with the dawn of the atomic age near the end of WWII.
